COVINGTON — Layton Wayne Keller, 80, Covington, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at his home. He was born Oct. 28, 1926 in Clinton, the son of Jess and Ida Fern (Winters) Keller. He married Isabel Florey Auter Jan. 14, 1984 in Covington. She preceded in death Aug. 7, 2005. He attended Covington schools and was a life resident of Covington and Veedersburg. 'Tub' was employed at Bohn Aluminum and later at Heatcraft for 28 years, retiring in 1989. He was an Army veteran of World War II and Korea. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #2395. Survivors include: a daughter, Mari Jo Keller, Veedersburg; a son, Steve (Trish) Keller, Indianapolis; a step daughter, Cindy (Robert) Hunt, Veedersburg; four brothers, Charles (Ann) Keller, Upper Darby, Pa., Donald (Theresa) Keller, Danville, Ill., Max E. (Margaret) Keller, Covington, and John W. Keller, Covington; a sister, Janet K. (Manuel) Gonzales, Danville, Ill.; and five grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister, and a step daughter. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Paul Kent officiating. Burial was in Coal Creek Cemetery with military honors by the V.F.W. and American Legion. – jlr
